Boomerang, part of the Twofour Group, has been commissioned to produce a brand new 3 x 60’ series for Channel 5, Sinkholes: Deadly Drops.
The series will take a look at the one of the most destructive natural phenomena known to man. As indiscriminate as they are instant, all over the world sinkholes have caused chaos and destruction wherever they appear: swallowing up whole streets, ripping up motorways, destroying entire forests and even dragging unfortunate bystanders to their untimely deaths.
Sinkholes: Deadly Drops will re-live the incredible stories of the people and places that survived a sinkhole – exploring the ripple effect in the immediate aftermath to the enormous feats of engineering and reconstruction required to help whole communities rebuild their lives. The series will combine the most breathtaking archive and user generated footage from around the world with stories from the UK of people who have suffered from these deadly attacks.
Sam Grace, Director of Programmes, Boomerang, said: “We’re really excited to be producing this dramatic new series for Channel 5 which gives our Cardiff production team the chance to tell some incredible stories from around the world.”
Sean Doyle, Commissioning Editor, Channel 5, added: “Having claimed cars, homes, and even lives, sinkholes are terrifying, unpredictable and happening right now. This new series will leave viewers treading carefully.”
The series was commissioned by Sean Doyle and will be executive produced by Sam Grace. An air date is yet to be confirmed.
The series will be distributed worldwide by Twofour Rights.
