Posh Pawnbrokers, which follows a number of high-end, characterful pawn-brokers from across the UK, continues on Channel 4 today.
This week, we follow moustachioed broker Larry and his dapper chum Neil at Cashbrokers in Cornwall as they do deals on an array of unusual items. We also check in with London Road Pawnbrokers in Sheffield, owned by 32-year-old singleton Dan, who is supported by a bevy of ladies including sister Cherise, opinionated part-time assistant Selwa and hilariously wry Northern manageress Ellie. We also follow Nathan and Debs at Pickwicks in South East London, who affectionately bicker like an old married couple, and brothers Charlie and Patrick at family-run Nikolas Patrick in Kent.
Sometimes weird and often wonderful, every item that comes through their doors has a story. But it’s not only the items that have interesting backgrounds; the owners are full of charisma too!
The series will unearth everything from high-value family heirlooms, stunning jewellery and flash cars, to curious collectables, unique antiques and bizarre memorabilia from all over the world. Some of these pieces are worth life-changing sums of money.
Coming up, we see the pawnbrokers valuing a mobile hairdressers, solving the mystery of an unusual handbag, and valuing an oriental statue plus a luxury time piece. There’s also saunas, a light aircraft, vintage swingboats, an FA cup medal, a red phone box, a diamond ring and a very special autograph…
The series airs on weekdays at 4pm on Channel 4.
